Jana Duchonova is a Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist. In the past 11 years she completed clinical child psychotherapy training programs at the Tavistock Centre and Birkbeck, University of London, and has worked in a variety of settings including specialist CAMHS teams, charities, schools and the Youth Offending Service.

 She currently divides her time between a private practice, where she works with children, young people and their families, and at the Brent Centre for Young People, a leading charity specialising in adolescent mental health. At the Brent Centre she treats young people in the clinic and in outreach settings. As a part this role she also co-manages an outreach service and acts as a Child Protection Officer, which involves assessing vulnerable and at-risk adolescents.

Jana previously worked in the specialist Adolescent Department and in the Fostering, Adoption and Kinship Care Team at the Tavistock Clinic. Her work in both of these teams involved treating children and adolescents with a range of severe emotional, developmental and psychiatric difficulties.

Jana is a Visiting Lecturer at the Tavistock Clinic. At the Brent Centre she supervises, trains, and provides consultation on issues concerning adolescent mental health to professionals working with vulnerable and risky adolescents. She also works with staff groups on issues concerning role and organizational dynamics. Jana is an MBTI (Myers-Briggs Type Indicator) Practitioner.

Qualifications: Jana has an Mpsych psych in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy with Children and Adolescents (Tavistock Centre), MSc in Psychodynamic Counseling with Children and Adolescents (Birkbeck, University of London), Certificate in Counselling and Counselling Skills (Birkbeck, University of London) and MBTI Certificate (OPP). She is currently working on her doctoral theses, conducting qualitative research into her clinical practice with looked-after children.

 Jana is a member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP) and the Tavistock Society of Psychotherapists  (TSP).
